Meeting with Hon. Minister Cassey Eggleton, Minister for the Environment, 15 July 2010

This was to inform Minister Eggleton of our intention to set up the Trust Fund for the Takitumu Conservation Area. Minister Eggleton recently returned from the 4^th GEF Assembly in Punta del Este, Uruguay (24-28 May 2010). The TIS Executive decided that Minister Eggleton could assist with attracting funds towards the trust by mentioning this initiative whilst networking. The Executive also asked to discuss the outcomes of the 4^th GEF Assembly and the revival of regular meetings of Cook Islands environment groups to help coordinate our efforts. The Minister’s office advised that these items could be discussed at the 2010 National Environment Forum. The Executive found that it was worthwhile to touch base with the Minister and bring to her attention some of the work of the Society.
